Peter V. Brett's The Daylight War

Will be released on February 12!!! Nice. I've fallen behind a bit in my reading. It's funny how no longer working at a bookstore impedes my knowledge of what's going on with my favorite authors (not that I miss retail - I DO NOT). I knew the third book in Brett's quintet was coming out in 2013, I just wasn't sure when. Imagine my surprise to look it up and find it's in a little over a week! Soooo cool. You can pre-order a copy here, or you can go to your local bookstore and buy it (if you're in the Southern Los Angeles area I recommend The Book Frog).

I talk about how I met Mr. Brett here - he actually gave me a copy of the first book in this series, The Warded Man and I am forever grateful to him for it.

When the heck is this coming out on DVD? I've been reading about it since it hit the festival circuit in the back half of 2012. Bloody Disgusting had words on it here but I'm not seeing much in the way of an American release.

Marnie Stern's New Record...

I keep forgetting about this. The album, The Chronicles of Marnia is yet another record to look forward to in the first quarter of this year (out 3/19/13) Again, an artist Mr. Brown turned me on to when he sent me her album from 2008 which I am currently too tired to try and type out the title of.



The new record should herald a tour. You know who I think should open for Ms. Stern?

Talk about things to look forward to! 2013 is really shaping up to be a great year for music, already in the first quarter even. Besnard Lakes, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Tomahawk, The Knife... and now !!! is releasing their first album since 2010's Strange Weather, Isn't it?.

Thr!!!er comes out April 29th in the US (4/30 in the UK). Nice Nice Nice
