2018: October 24th

I fell pretty hard into this Minsk record last night. Several of the guys in the band were in the Chris Connelly-fronted The High Confessions back in 2012, and I'd been meaning to check them out ever since.


31 Days of Horror continued last night with Jacob's Ladder. Such an underrated film. So damn creepy, and especially interesting when looked at as an extrapolation of the old, "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge."

The ups and downs of life, fate, whatever you want to call it. Definitely feeling that right now. Relationships strain, others wane, others reform. I try to keep an even keel, regardless. If I know you and I speak to you in any form outside of my work life, I probably love you.

My favorite track on the aforementioned Turning Lead into Gold with the High Confessions record from 2010. Shades of Pornography era Cure.

The High Confessions - Chlorine and Crystal

It's been nearly three years since the debut album by Chris Connelly, Sanford Parker, Steve Shelley and Jeremy Lemos, collectively known as The High Confessions. I want more.

This song, the album closer, reminds me a lot of the tone of The Cure's Pornography. Let's juxtapose this with a track so maybe you can see what I mean. A good creative day for me is sitting down and writing to first Turning Lead into Gold with the High Confessions, then Pornography. It doesn't get much moodier than that.
