Watch Behemoth Perform on a Rooftop

I'm still partial to Nergal's other project, Me and That Man, but he's an interesting guy and I tend to check out most of what he does, even if the Behemoth stuff usually doesn't really light my fire.

I will say, the setup here is impressive. Seeing the Sigil drawn Sky-large atop the building, staring up at the sky, you really get a feel for Nergal's ambition.

NCBD:

I'm still wishy-washy with this "Event," however, issue 4 was pretty awesome, and Judgment Day is slowly moving in unforeseen directions, so I continue.

Love this book. Shaolin Cowboy: Cruel to be Kin is the perfect vehicle for Geoff Darrow to go absolutely crazy with his insanely complex and beautiful art.

For my money, keep this book centered around Clea Strange.

I'm not really sure what this is, but I'm buying the first issue based on my love of the original, 80s Xterminators series (which I know will have nothing to do with this), and the idea that maybe an all-female X-book will tap into the majesty of the now classic Uncanny #244.

Holy cow...

This is One Awesome F#&king Evil Dead Fan Film!

Praise be to the might Bloody Disgusting for plastering this one on their front page, right where it belongs! Not sure what to even say. Talk about inspiring. Courtlan Gourdan did this in 72 hours for $200? It might be time to finally think seriously about making the Short Film I've had planned for a few years now.

On Friday, October 18th, I had the members of The Horror Vision Podcast over to record an episode that started out with a planned viewing/reaction to Babak Anvari's Wounds. However, things slipped from my grasp - the battery meter on our Recording Device read a solid three out of four lines for not one but two pairs of batteries, only to die unexpectedly. The delay pushed back the viewing until we missed our spot to have everyone present participate, and realistically we were down my Left Hand Man Anthony, so the night just ran into random horror film conversations. Which was definitely cool in its own right, hence why I took the time to stitch together a mostly coherent episode and put it online. In listening back to it, there's one rough edit where two different conversations unexpectedly bleed into one another, and you can absolutely hear my up-at-four-AM ass lose steam somewhere near the middle of the episode, but overall, pretty solid discussion. Check it out, and we should have another new one up sometime real soon.

Interesting. I've been warring with myself for the last twelve hours or so, over an awkward social situation that blasted my night in splinters last night. Well, a series of them really, culminating with an almost telekinetic manifestation of the anxiety I've been carrying with me for a few days. Lots of stress right now, at work and in life. This Pull is a nice indication I should let it go.

2019: July 20th Shudder's New Creepshow Series Get A Trailer!!!

I've been pretty excited for the new Shudder Creepshow series, and if this first trailer is any indication, it's going to be better than my expectations even. Not easy to do, when reviving something so iconic, but based on everything I've seen from the streaming service so far, they are 100% up to the task.

New episode of The Horror Vision went up yesterday. This is a special 'Double-sized' edition, where Ray, Anthony, Tori, and myself tell our listeners a little bit about ourselves. After that, topics of discussion ended up revolving around Luca Guadagnino's 2018 Suspiria remake and the merit/non-merit of remakes in general. Finally, our movie of the episode reaction bit is on Matthew Holness' film Possum.

Continuing on into the heart of Robert S. Wilson's Ashes and Entropy anthology, I read John Langan's short, Breakwater earlier today. Fantastic short fiction; kind of a mash-up of the Crime and Horror genres, I blew through Breakwater at a pretty quick clip, and caught my breath when it ended. After a complicated relationship with Langan's novel The Fisherman, I'd been wanting to read something else by the man, and this story definitely pointed me in the direction of his newest collection, Sefira and Other Betrayals:

Look at that cover art - unnerving is an understatement for artist Santiago Caruso's image, more of which you can find on his website HERE. Mr. Langan's website is HERE and you can order a beautiful limited cloth edition of Sefira directly from Hippocampus Press HERE.

Balance. I need this right now. Trying to balance my interests has put things out of whack, creatively.

2018: August 18th

Not gonna lie, I had chills when the song kicked in.

I've been a bit obsessed with Connelly's solo career again, and was looking for a copy of Jackietowne, from his 2018 album The Tide Stripped Bare when I stumbled across this. Shocked, to a point. I'm a firm believer that other than the Smiths, everyone in music who parted ways will eventually come together again. I guess I'd just never imagined this reunion before, especially not after reading Connelly's amazing and long out of print autobiography, Concrete, Invisible, Bullet-Proof, and Fried: My Life as a Revolting Cock. Speaking of that, I recently found out Uncle Al also did an auto, and I need to put that on my list:

Playlist from 8/17:

Secret Chiefs 3 Traditionalists - Le Mani Destre Recise Degli Ultimi Uomini
David Bowie - Scary Monsters
David Bowie - Low
Chris Connelly - The Tide Stripped Bare
Chris Connelly - Artificial Madness
Chris Connelly - Night of Your Life

Card of the day:

I pulled two today. The first was Truce, which is also extremely relevant to current situations. The second, of course, was Victory, which has not been far off for a week now.
